Priest They Called Him by Kurt Cobain
Customer Reviews & Opinions
The Beginning and the End
William Burroughs has been called the “godfather of punk” by many people and that title seems to be accurate. He came from a wealthy background and his parents set up a trust fund for him which allowed him to lead a life outside of the mainstream and protest the establishment. He used quite a bit of left wing propaganda in his writing and speaking, but revealed himself to be a nihilist underneath it all. He chose to live among poor drug addicts and became one even though he had the means lead a much better lifestyle. Many punks also live this way, for a little while at least.
Kurt Cobain has been called a murder of punk by many people because he brought it to the mainstream which is accurate to some. He came from a very dysfunctional, lower class family. As a child, he was treated by doctors for ADD with Ritalin and sedatives, which he became addicted to, and was unable to break free of. He was a victim of the establishment and eventually forced out of it which landed him in the underground. The depression he spoke of in his music was real and could be seen in the nihilistic manner he lived his life. Once he had the chance to use his talent and knowledge to escape the life he was living, he took it. Punks hate sellouts.
The combination of these two figures of the underground culture is absolutely brilliant. Burroughs represents the beginning of punk and Cobain represents the end. It’s kind of like a birthday and a funeral all rolled into one. Burroughs’ upperclass, arty writing style from the 1950’s that inspired punks the next few decades finally filtered down to the trailer parks that spawned Cobain in the 1980’s. Punk has officially completed its journey through all parts of popular culture and landed at the bottom. “Priest They Called Him” could be considered a celebration of this journey.
The story read by Burroughs, while Cobain tortures his guitar, could be interpreted in so many different ways as it relates to the characters that perform it. If you know anything about punk or underground music or even pop culture, then this album is a must.
If you like this…
If you like this, you should really get Burroughs and Ministry on their “Just on Fix” CD single. There’s a track called “quick fix” which is as good as the priest (the only drawback is that it’s even shorter than this 9 minute masterpiece).
not your typical “night before Christmas”
A very dark and grim story, the narration is perfectly interpreted by Kurt Cobain’s harsh guitar. The music seems to express what’s going on inside the heart of the priest in this story. Especially incredible is the junkie priest’s death as we seem to hear his soul spiral out of this world into oblivion. A haunting story for Christmas and an incredible performance by Cobain.

On and On
Why Buy A On and On?Jack Johnson has found himself a groove. Indeed, the Hawaiian surfing champion turned alternative pop-folk star really hasnt changed things one iota for his sophomore release. Fans of
Brushfire Fairytales should be delighted with the results. The groove is a mellow one–most of the 16 tracks here are semi-acoustic–and that easy-going spirit filters into Johnsons lyrical philosophies. What will be will be / And so it goes he sings on Times Like These, the opening track. Thankfully, Johnson is never
too mellow, and theres a Dont worry, be happy vibe to most of his music. The Horizon Has Been Defeated even has a pseudo-reggae feel to it. Although classified as an alternative musician, the singer-songwriters compositions owe much to past hits. Traffic in the Sky is reminiscent of Jim Croces Operator and Looking Glasss one-hit-wonder, Brandy. On the splendid Taylor, Johnson sounds an awful lot like Donovan. And By The Way recalls the Lovin Spoonful.

I love Jack Johnson!
I love Jack Johnson! I have all of his cd’s but this one is my favorite one! I especially like “times like these” and “taylor”
This is definitely a cd you’ll want to listen to over and over again!
I’ve got em all- This is the one.
From a very big Jack Johnson fan who owns every one of his albums, this is the one I would most hate to lose. Music is too subjective for me to give meaningful descriptions of the songs, but suffice to say, if you like Jack’s music, you’ll love this album.

Live from Nowhere in Particular
Product Description3 LP set. Live from Nowhere in Particular is the 2008 album from Joe Bonamassa, an US blues guitarist/singer. Guitar One Magazine has stated that he just might be the best guitarist of his generation. His blues-rock style is similar to that of Stevie Ray Vaughans. In an interview in Guitarist magazine (issue 265), Joe Bonamassa cited the three albums that had the biggest influence on his playing: John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (the Beano Album), Rory Gallaghers Irish Tour and Goodbye by Cream.

Best album in decades
This is one of the best albums that I have purchased in a long time! Thank goodness rock still lives!
Travis Tritt (sp?)
Joe is supper and I love the sound, but I can’t help but hear Travis Tritt (one of my favorites) in his voice. I love both and guess it’s that gravelly sound. Anyway, great music.
just like you’re there
Went to see him in concert and loved him. This CD is just like you are at the show. Wonderful mix of music.
Blues artist
This CD is full of new cutting edge blues. It has become one of my favorites.

Unplugged in New York
Customer Reviews & Opinions
Nirvana Unplugged is great
I honestly think this is the best musical show I’ve ever seen. This, not really being a concert, but a great performance. Its a must own for any Nirvana fan. Youll really fall in love with it once you either watch it or hear it. There’s plenty of funny things that are said in between songs too
Nirvana, MTV unplugged in NEw York
I never saw Nirvana on Live like this beofore ,just listened their Music&Songs and heard about them since the past 7 years… This is the first show of them as I saw on DVD,All their Hits were on the show, Kurt Cobain was still alive, even though he was gone….That is the grest show with miracle voice of him.
Awesome concert
I never was into nirvana until this year and I always seen them as a loud screaming band. I never thought they could pull this kind of proformace off. And in this they did. Kurt was amazing at how he sung each song in a very mellow tone. This dvd is worth having.
Nostalgia at its finest
I had been looking for this DVD for years.
I am not a huge Nirvana fan, but this is a must have for any early 90’s music fan.
A true treasure for the music enthusiast.

Live in Gdansk (5 LP 180 GRAM BOXSET)
Customer Reviews & Opinions
Last performance for Rick Wright
Another great show by Dave Gilmour and Company. Slightly different song lineup than Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Rick Wright’s final performance.
Awesome! That Says It All…
This is one great live set. CD’s & DVD’s. If you are a Pink Floyd or David Gilmour fan this is a must have. Some of the last music from Ric Wright. (RIP My Friend)
Great live album
David Gilmour puts on a phenomenal live show and ‘Live in Gdansk’ just goes to show you how good it can be. The entire album is an outstanding tribute to not only Gilmour and Pink Floyd, but his friend and bandmate Richard Wright who passed away some time after this show. Highly recommended.

Monster
Why Buy A Monster?R.E.M. pushed the jangle out of the picture with
Monster, replacing it with reverberating snaps, crackles, and pops. An album that wraps itself to 70s glam finery while reaching out to the flannel-clad post-Nirvana throngs, it largely succeeds at demonstrating that these Georgians still know how to rock. The MTV fave Whats the Frequency, Kenneth? kicks things off on a high note as Peter Bucks distorted power chords set the tone for the 12-song set. Strange Currencies may be alarmingly reminiscent of the
Automatic for the People hit Everybody Hurts, but its actually the superior song. Let Me In is a heavily distorted nod to the fallen Kurt Cobain. While
Monster is far from R.E.M.s most consistent effort, it stands as a ragged and risky respite from safe and sound alterna-rock.

Person Pitch
Why Buy A Person Pitch? As a member of the acclaimed Animal Collective, Noah Lennox (a.k.a. Panda Bear) has for years been making music that mixes experimental structures with a pure 60s pop sensibility. On his second solo album of looped and layered experimental post-pop, he shows considerable skill in crafting songs that retain the essence of psychedelia while having been crafted with loop-based home recording methods. The albums finest moment has to be Bros, a slowly percolating and unapologetically lovely twelve-and-a-half-minute song. Like Brian Wilson lost in a K-hole, gorgeous harmonies soaked in echo bump up against each other until they reach a rhythmic, fascinating crescendo. Elsewhere, Panda Bears music tends toward the same effect a tad too much, often without the same transcendent quality.
Person Pitch has fabulous moments aplenty, though (as with Captain Beefhearts 1968
Strictly Personal) one does wish that fewer reverb-soaked vocals were used, or that they were used even further, pushed into complete abstract dissociation.

Customer Reviews & Opinions
harmonious vocals pleasing to the ears!!
I was curious to try Panda Bear after enjoying the various Animal Collective albums. This CD is all about Noah Lennox’s amazing voice. The soothing harmony’s are so interesting but relaxing. I can listen to this CD while going to sleep or driving in the car, or reading - the music draws you in. The music itself has almost an international flavor to it - my young children who also like it, wonder if it comes from the islands, and I can see why! But the album is really about Panda’s Brian Wilson-esque voice - if you like that aspect of Animal Collective, then you will enjoy hearing Panda in his solo album.
Panda Bear- Person Pitch
This album is awesome. If you like Animal Collective, the Beach Boys, or indie music in general you will love it. This album is unique and complex enough for the intricate listener, and fun and pleasant enough for the mainstream listener. I recommend it highly.
Amazing
If you have heard this cd, you really need to check it out on vinyl. The quality is incredible for an LP.
